A new trail has opened up at Lehigh Portland Trails. It’s called “Humpty Dumpty“, and it features some tight and twisty turns, as well as numerous ups-and-downs in an area of dense Cottonwood, Sycamore, Hackberry, and Walnut trees.
The Humpty Dumpty trail’s name comes from the section’s long-ago use as a dumping ground for industrial and construction refuse, which has resulted in lots of small mounds of dirt, rocks, concrete, and other materials, which has gradually been overgrown with trees over time.
The result is an exciting three-quarters-of-a-mile singletrack that makes for a challenging ride or run, or an interesting nature hike with a variety of trees and woodland plants to observe.
The new trail is located along the West Spur Trail, just north of the quarry lake, sandwiched between the Backbone Trail and the Mountain Goats Trail, and directly across the way from the Goat Creek Trail.
