The John Robertson Memorial Cross Country Ski Trail is dedicated to the memory of John Robertson, who wrote the original grant proposal for what become the Lehigh Portland Trails. The idea of a ski trail in Southeastern Kansas was one of John’s more fanciful notions, but it’s a one that we’re proud to indulge. It was John’s vision that shaped what the trails have become.
John passed away in 2015, before the trails were completed. His trail was dedicated in March 2018.
The trail sign is located along the Backbone Trail, near a picnic table overlooking the quarry lake. But in reality, the entire trail system is open for cross-country skiing, weather permitting.
