The Fon-Rie Bridge at Lehigh Portland Trails is named in honor of super-volunteers Dave Fontaine and Dave Riebel, who constructed this sturdy bridge from scrap materials. It sits on two large concrete blocks, set in place with help from the City of Iola. Concrete was poured by a local contractor, and the railing was constructed by Dave Riebel.
This bridge is located along the Backbone Trail, adjacent to the Weir Dam on Elm Creek.
