The shelter house along the eastern bluffs of the quarry lake was an Eagle Scout project by Iola resident Alec Sager. The 14-year-old helped design and build the structure, along with trail volunteers and fellow scouts.
The shelter is modeled after a similar feature on the Southwind Rail Trail, which was designed and built by the local Rotary Club.
The Eagle Scout Shelter is located along the South Loop Trail, and may also be accessed via the East Loop Trail. Approximate GPS coordinates: 37.90611,-95.392337
