Lehigh Nature Walk September 29th

posted in: News 0

Enjoy a stroll through the natural beauty of Lehigh Portland Trails, and learn about the stunning biodiversity and diverse ecosystems along the trails. Our trails steward, Randy Rasa, will lead this exploration of the trail system, concentrating on identifying flowers, grasses, and trees, and discuss the ongoing work of restoring and managing the trails and surrounding natural lands.

Meet at the Eastern Trailhead (1600th & Nebraska Road) at 1pm. Be prepared to walk about two miles. Long pants, hiking boots, insect repellent, sunscreen, drinking water and snacks are recommended.

If you want to participate in citizen science, by helping to identify and document species, please have the iNaturalist app loaded on your iOS or Android smartphone.

The Nature Walk is part of our celebration of National Public Lands Day. Other events during the weekend include “BioBlitz: Nocturnal Biodiversity of the Lehigh Portland Trails” on September 27th, and “Seed Collecting at Leadplant and Paintbrush Prairies” on September 28th.
