The first loads of rock were delivered to the Lehigh Portland Trails last week. Volunteers have been clearing the main trails for two winters — cutting, piling, burning, raking, leveling — all in preparation for a rock surface, so this moment has been a long time coming!
The rock shown here is not the final surface, but is being used as a heavier base to help firm up some low-lying ground. The final surface will be limestone screenings.
We’re hopeful more work can be done in the coming weeks, weather permitting.
